Bringing Precision to Spain's Aesthetic Market
Bringing Precision to Spain’s Aesthetic Market:
A Pico Laser OEM Journey with QM Medical
Over the past five years, Spain’s aesthetic industry has evolved rapidly, with a strong emphasis on high-precision treatments such as pigmentation removal, melasma management, and tattoo fading. In cities like Madrid, Barcelona, and Valencia, the demand for pico-second laser systems has grown—but so has competition.
For Alejandro Ruiz, an experienced distributor in the Spanish dermatology and medical beauty sector, the timing was clear. Clinics were looking beyond basic Q-switched lasers. They wanted energy-efficient, low-downtime devices with real clinical results—and a supplier who could back them up with technical know-how and market credibility.
“I wasn’t just looking to import another generic machine,” Alejandro explains. “I wanted to develop a true OEM brand that clinics could trust—and that we could grow long-term.”
Alejandro first approached QM Medical in early 2022 after being referred by a colleague in Italy who had positive results with their diode systems. From the first technical meeting, the approach was different. Instead of pushing a pre-configured solution, QM’s team asked questions—about the brand image, local doctor expectations, CE compliance needs, and after-sales infrastructure.
Together, the teams co-developed a Pico Laser system customized for the Spanish market, with:
Fractional and focused handpieces for pigmentation, skin rejuvenation, and tattoo removal.
Optimized energy calibration suitable for Fitzpatrick types III to V, common in the Iberian Peninsula.
Spanish-language UI and technical documentation.
Rebranded exterior shell design with custom color palette and logo embossing.
Extended test protocols to support local doctor trainings and scientific presentations.
Unlike a typical OEM hand-off, QM Medical offered hands-on assistance with regulatory paperwork, early demo scheduling, and local CE documentation support—all done with responsiveness aligned to the Spanish distributor’s timelines.
The newly branded Pico Laser system launched at the Barcelona Aesthetic Medicine Congress in May 2022. But instead of relying solely on sales reps, Alejandro’s company organized a clinical training series in Madrid, Seville, and Bilbao—partnering with respected dermatologists and inviting over 150 professionals to live demos.
42 units were sold in the first 90 days following the launch.
Alejandro believes the success came from treating the launch not as a product drop, but as a knowledge-driven introduction. “We positioned the brand as an expert tool, not just a machine,” he explains. “That’s something Spanish doctors really respond to.”
What Made QM Medical the Right OEM/ODM Partner
For Alejandro, the technical quality of the laser was important—but not enough on its own.
“What made the difference was how personal QM Medical’s process was. They didn’t send us a catalog and disappear. They listened. They restructured the software to fit our UI needs. They adjusted cooling elements based on our dermatologists’ feedback. This was real R&D collaboration—not a template,” he says.
The trust built during the OEM development phase now forms the basis of a long-term roadmap. “We’re already testing new handpiece configurations and higher frequency options with QM’s engineers. We don’t feel like a reseller—we feel like a partner in product evolution.”
Following the successful Spanish launch, Alejandro’s company has started fielding inquiries from Portugal, Andorra, and Latin American markets with Spanish-speaking practitioners. The plan is to expand this OEM pico platform into a multi-region product line, maintaining QM Medical as the core technology supplier.
“Pico laser is just the beginning,” Alejandro notes. “We’ve built trust with our clinics, and we’re building momentum with QM Medical. With the right technology and people behind it, that combination is very hard to replicate.”
